About Wimbledon Tickets

Wimbledon Tennis Championships offer a purse of £14,600,000 ($23,800,000) (€16,600,000). Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. One of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, along with the Australian Open, French Open and United States Open, Wimbledon is considered to be the most prestigious of them all. Still played on grass, "lawn tennis" is played over two weeks in late June and early July - ending with the Ladies' and Gentlemen's Singles Finals that are scheduled for the second Saturday and Sunday in June. Wimbledon traditions include a strict dress code for players - along with the eating of strawberries and cream by the spectators, and Royal family in attendance. In 2009, Wimbledon's Centre Court was fitted with a retractable roof to lessen the loss of playing time due to rain.
